These drawings (selections from an ongoing series) of rocks and rock formations interspersed with geometric features, are intended firstly to be dense, solid, material images –and something more. To me, when successful, they impart a formidable animating energy, a released spirit-resonance interacting from within: something alive. This is perhaps akin to the rock cuttings found on boulders believed by ancient peoples to release magical powers within the rock itself. The stuff of art. I do not wish to over-describe my work further, mindful always of the key distinction between showing and saying.
